Mandaadi is a Tamil sports drama built around traditional sailboat racing along the coast of Tamil Nadu. The story follows a fishing captain who uses his knowledge of the sea while preparing a team for a major boat race.

4. Carrie — Prime Video

Genre: Horror drama

Stephen King's Carrie gets another screen adaptation this October. The story follows a quiet young girl whose difficult life takes a frightening turn after she discovers extraordinary powers.

5. Pati Patni Aur Panga — Season 2

The second season of Pati Patni Aur Panga is another Indian title arriving during October. The show returns with a new season and continues its entertainment-focused format.

If you prefer Indian reality and entertainment programming over crime or horror, this could be an easy addition to your weekend watchlist.

More OTT Movies and Web Series Coming in October

The month has much more than the five titles above.

Other notable October releases include Dupahiya Season 2, Sardar 2, East of Eden, Pooja Meri Jaan, Blue Box Season 2, VisionQuest, The Diplomat Season 4, and Sacrifice.

Netflix's October schedule also includes titles such as 100 Days of Deception, Khalifa: The Ruler, Epic - First Semester, Pradhama Drishtya Kuttakkar, Below and Masterplan, among others.

This variety means viewers can find something across several genres instead of having to stick to one type of content.

Best OTT Releases This Month by Genre

Not sure what to watch? Choosing by genre can make the decision easier.

For thriller fans

Start with Reporting Live or Animals. Both offer stories built around investigations, crime and high-pressure situations.

For horror fans

Carrie is one of the month's notable horror options, particularly for viewers interested in a new adaptation of Stephen King's story.

For sports and regional cinema fans

Mandaadi offers a different experience through its story around traditional boat racing and coastal life.

For franchise and superhero fans

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is also part of the October streaming/on-demand conversation, with the film arriving on digital platforms during the month.

How to Choose What to Watch

With so many new OTT releases this month, having too many choices can sometimes make deciding what to watch harder.

A simple approach is to start with your preferred genre.

If you want something suspenseful, choose a thriller. If you're looking for something lighter, explore comedy or romance. For family viewing, check the age rating and content information before starting a movie or series.

It is also worth checking the streaming platform directly before planning a watch party. Release schedules can vary by country, and platforms can occasionally change availability or dates.

Are OTT Releases Becoming More Diverse?

One of the most noticeable trends in streaming is the variety of content available to viewers.

Indian audiences can now find Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and other regional-language productions alongside international English-language movies and series. October's lineup reflects this mix, with releases ranging from Indian investigative thrillers and regional dramas to Korean, American and other international productions.

For viewers, this creates an opportunity to discover stories outside their usual choices.

Instead of watching only major Bollywood releases, you can explore regional cinema, international dramas, documentaries, animation and limited series.

How to Keep Track of New OTT Releases

If you regularly watch streaming content, maintaining a simple watchlist can help.

You can:

1. Save interesting titles when you see their announcement.

2. Note the expected release date.

3. Check the streaming platform before watching.

4. Add the titles you actually want to watch first.

5. Remove shows that no longer interest you.

This is particularly useful during months with a crowded release schedule.

For example, October 2026 has releases spread across Netflix, Prime Video, JioHotstar, ZEE5 and other services, so keeping everything in one list can make it easier to plan your viewing.

Final Thoughts

October 2026 is shaping up to be a busy month for streaming fans. From Reporting Live, Animals and Mandaadi to Carrie and returning series, there is a good mix of movies and shows across different genres and languages.

The best approach is not to watch everything. Pick titles that match your interests, check the latest availability on the relevant streaming service, and build a watchlist that you can actually finish.

As more movies and series arrive throughout the month, this list can also be updated with newly confirmed releases and schedule changes.
